shaver lake smallmouth after the dam project

went camping with the family at shaver and got out on the yak for a couple hours, went trolling for trout but apparently they were deeper than i was fishing. but i did fish a shallow clear area with a kastmaster and came up with this smallmouth which is strange because they drained the lake last year to repair the dam and they were thought to have not survived.this fish was released.

avila beach halibut skunk

paddled out with a fellow kayak angler to drift for halibut from port san luis to pirates cove. all the reports had them in shallow water and there were some scattered bait balls but we came up with nothing. fished for rockfish for about 20 minutes and got this ling, at least it wasn't a total skunk.

 finally got my dad out on the water with me, and to glorious conitions. caught lots of sugar bass and a couple black and yellows.

 bad conditions were afoot opening day and weekend leading to me only catching small black and yellows and sugar bass, but in the kelp bed right next to me my buddy billy pulled up a 35" ling.

this is a valley oak by my work that is hundreds of years old and appears to have a angel in the trunk.

kayak fishing santa margarita

 paddled out at santa margarita lake, there happened to be a bass tournament going on so it was pretty crowded with bass boats, i was the only kayak fishing. didn't have any luck until i started trolling a crankbait out deeper than the boats long the shore.

san antonio kayak fishing

                                                            Went camping at lake san antonio with family for easter weekend, had a lot of fun got to see my son swift chase deer around trying to feed them grass, lol. got to fish for one hour midday before we left, i thought i was skunked and was heading in when i caught this guy trolling back to shore, stoked!
